01 · The story
Why we started this.
Most agency directories make money by selling top-of-page placements to the agencies they're supposed to be ranking. The result is predictable: the highest bidder ranks first, not the best fit for your project.
That model is broken on both sides. Buyers waste time on agencies that bought their way to the top. Good agencies that won't play the pay- to-play game stay invisible. And every ranking on the page becomes a negotiation, not a signal.
Pick an Agency is the alternative. The catalog is open, the methodology is published below, and the rank is computed from review data - not from who paid us. Same flat price for every agency. The same flat price is $0.
One rule: nobody pays us to rank higher.

Four principles, in plain language.

Nobody pays to rank higher.
Agencies can claim their profile, but they can't pay for a better position. There are no placement fees, sponsored slots, or paid "verified" badges. Rank is computed from review data only.

Reviews come from clients, not the agency.
Reviews are pulled from verified third-party sources (Clutch, Google Maps, etc. - with attribution) or submitted by logged-in buyers who used Get Matched. No anonymous self-promotion.

We publish our methodology.
How rank is computed, what data we use, how reviews are weighted - it's all on this page. If the formula changes, we change this page too.

Affiliate-driven rankings are out.
Most agency directories take a kickback when a buyer hires through them. We don't. Buyers contact agencies directly, the agency keeps 100% of the deal, and there's no incentive on our side to surface anyone other than the actual best fit.
03 · Rankings
How rankings actually work.
Every listed agency gets a rank computed from verified review data. The signal weights are below - but the short version is: an agency ranks higher when more clients rate it well, more recently.
No payment alters this. The system has no admin override for ranking order. If we wanted to push an agency up, we'd have to lie about its review data - and that would break the public catalog we're building.
The formula will keep evolving as we add data sources. When it changes, this page changes too - and we'll note the date.

Reviews older than 24 months carry reduced weight. Stale praise doesn't compound.

Claimed + verified agencies get a small surface advantage within ties (never enough to override rating).
Profile completeness
Minor
Agencies that publish pricing, case studies and clear intake rank above bare profiles.

We don't accept money to alter rankings. We don't even have the ability - there's no admin override.
