Pick an Agency — Chrome Extension Privacy Policy

In one paragraph

The Pick an Agency Chrome extension lets you see the rating and reviews of any marketing agency you visit, by checking the current tab's domain against our public directory at pickanagency.com. We do not track your browsing, build a profile of you, sell data to third parties, or store your browsing history. The only thing we ever send to our servers is the bare domain (for example, klientboost.com) of the tab you are currently viewing, when the extension performs a lookup.

1. What the extension does

When you are on a website, the extension extracts the website's domain (the host portion of the URL — never the path, query string, or any page content) and asks our public API whether that domain corresponds to an agency listed in the Pick an Agency directory.

If a match is found, the extension shows the agency's name, rating, review count, and a link to its public profile page. If no match is found, you see a button to suggest the site for our directory.

2. What we collect

Domain of the current tab: sent to https://www.pickanagency.com/api/agencies/lookup as a query parameter, only when the extension performs a lookup (when you click the icon, or when a tab finishes loading and the extension updates its toolbar badge).

Nothing else. We do not collect:

• The full URL, page title, or content of the page you are viewing
• Form data, passwords, or any input you type
• Cookies, browsing history, bookmarks, or browser settings
• Personal identifiers (name, email, IP linked to identity)
• Information from non-active tabs

3. How the data is used

The domain we receive is used solely to perform the lookup against our public agency directory and return a result to your browser. Server logs may briefly retain incoming request lines (including the domain query parameter) for the standard 30-day operational window used by our hosting provider, after which they are deleted.

We do not associate lookup queries with any user, account, IP-derived identity, or session. We do not build profiles of extension users and we do not run any analytics inside the extension itself.

4. Local storage

To avoid making redundant requests, the extension caches lookup results in chrome.storage.session for one hour. This storage is cleared automatically when you close Chrome and is never transmitted off your device.

5. Third parties

The extension only communicates with https://www.pickanagency.com (our own server). It does not contact any other domain, advertising network, or analytics provider. We never sell or share extension data with third parties.

6. Permissions, justified

• activeTab — required to read the current tab's URL when you click the extension icon or when the page finishes loading, so we can extract the domain.
• storage — required to cache lookup results locally for one hour (session storage, cleared on browser exit).
• host_permissions: pickanagency.com — required to call our public lookup API.

7. Children

The extension is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any personal information.

8. Changes

If we change how the extension handles data, we will update this page and bump the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will also be reflected in the extension's Web Store listing notes.
