Sublimio is a boutique branding studio founded in Rome in 2009 by Matteo Modica, founder and creative director. The studio takes on around eight projects a year, working with a small, senior team and no account managers between the studio and the client. This selectivity has led Sublimio to turn down financially attractive projects when the fit wasn't right.
For Nihonsakari, a sake brewery founded in 1889 and an official supplier to the Japanese Imperial Household, Sublimio built the sake brand Sakari, followed by Sakari Gin and maikasui, a premium hand care line built around rice sourced from sake production. In luxury real estate and hospitality, Sublimio has designed brand identities for The Missing Element, offering residences and boats in Miami, Ibiza, and Costa Smeralda, and Upstairz, offering access to luxury assets worldwide.
Sublimio also designed aprile, a limited-edition suspended seat conceived by Matteo Modica and developed over more than a decade. Issued in an edition of 30+30, each seat is engraved with one day of April and a line from an original short story reserved for its owners. aprile has been featured on Minimalissimo, ArtTribune, ElleDecor, Awwwards, and the Digital Design Award, and in 2025 brought Matteo to speak to product design students at the University of Arts London.
